The client wanted to provide the ability to automatically add parking charges to a hotel guest’s room folio. The parking platform’s valet app needed to have the ability to identify a guest through their pre-booking at the hotel property. The app also needed to sync with the hotel’s Property Management System (PMS) to identify the guest post-check-in if the guest had not pre-booked. The app is then used to submit parking charges, including vehicle information, to the guest’s account. Upon check-out, the valet app is updated showing payment for the parking charges. The valet attendant simply retrieves the vehicle for the guest and hands them their keys with no payment transaction needed.
Challenges
The project included the following challenges:
- To keep the process steps and clicks to a minimum and to make the app intuitive and seamless.
- Support for integration with multiple PMS.
- Tracking a unique reservation in case of multiple reservations created by the user.
The Xperity Solution
Xperity successfully integrated the Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform
(OHIP) and the digital parking platform. By making it available to the properties using OPERA PMS, parking attendants can search for guest bookings and seamlessly submit parking charges related to the guest. Further, these charges are added to the guest’s room folio, synchronizing all charges onto one bill. This avoids the need for the guest to make a separate transaction.
In addition, Xperity created comprehensive reports, including EOD reconciliation and vehicle tracking and management.
How We Did It
Xperity created and integrated multiple processes and features, including:
OPERA Cloud Reservation API
Using the OPERA Cloud Reservation API from OHIP's APIs, guest information, including check-in date, check-out date, and room number, is provided.
Parking Charges Post Process
A process was created to post a guest's parking charges and vehicle information to the guest's room folio.
Payment Notification
A payment notification is automatically sent to the app when a guest checks out, alerting the valet attendant that the guest paid the parking charges.
Results
GET IT reported the following results across various clients:
- Increase in guest satisfaction: Hotel guests do not need to make separate payment for parking charges.
- Efficient vehicle pickup: Valet attendants can view payment for parking charges, decreasing curbside wait time for the guest and avoiding throughput bottlenecks.
- Faster EOD reconciliation: Payment reports automatically are generated accelerating end-of-day reconciliation, saving time and reducing human error.
